Specialist PVC compounder Dugdale Ltd has taken delivery of a new Plasmec TRM 600 high speed mixer with customised cooling and feeder systems that will enable it to enhance quality and increase throughput of its PVC compound formulations for both rigid and flexible applications.

Including services the investment amounts to £300,000 and will be used to assist in the development and manufacture of Ducavin high performance rigid PVC compounds, alloys and technical flexible grades.

Custom liquid handling and additive dosing capabilities tailored to Dugdale's requirements have been engineered into the mixer. These enhanced processing options are designed to facilitate the manufacture of the company's increasingly diverse range of high performance PVC compounds and alloys which are offered in small quantities or large volumes.

Dave Outen managing director of Dugdale said: "The new mixer replaces existing plant and will play a key role in the expansion of our bespoke materials developed to meet specific performance criteria for our customers."

New cellular materials, anti-microbial compounds, lead-free injection moulding grades for building products, flame retardant, sealing and intumescent products as well as PVC alloys for elevated temperature applications will pass through the new plant. Furthermore, the mixer will help Dugdale manage the additional compound development work arising from the impact of REACH compliance.
