Robyn’s cut generates hair-raising amount for children’s charity

Dugdale Limited’s Customer Sales Administrator raised an impressive £1867.52 for a children’s charity – and became one of JustGiving’s top three fundraisers for July – when she had her long hair cut off.

Robyn Hall donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity which provides real hair wigs free of charge to children in the UK and Ireland who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment and other illnesses.

The amount Robyn raised exceeded her target by almost a quarter. As a result, Robyn received an email from JustGiving saying that out of 47,728 fundraisers in July, she was one of the top three.

Robyn had been growing her hair for six years and had 12 inches cut off, which is the minimum length needed to make a wig. She said that going for the big cut was daunting. “I knew that once it was cut there was no going back. It was unnerving at first but it all went smoothly.

“My fundraising was given a massive boost by the video I had made, explaining what I was doing and why. It was far more effective than an email, as most people are more inclined to listen and watch rather than read. So it really had an impact, and I believe this was reflected in how much was raised,” explained Robyn, who is 27 and has worked at West Yorkshire based PVC Compound specialist Dugdale since 2015.

“The generosity of customers, colleagues, family and friends is overwhelming and I’m extremely grateful to everyone who donated,” Robyn added.
