Dugdale PVC Ltd, has been selected as a finalist for the 2019 Plastics Industry Awards (PIA) for developing and creating Vinyl grade PVC materials to colour match the logo of the global children’s charity UNICEF.

Technical Director Dr. Jeff Ryan says that ‘Dudgale is delighted to have its materials expertise shortlisted for the industry’s awards at the first time of asking. The UNICEF-based project has been a “good news” story for ourselves and for the vinyl sector industry from start to finish. Dugdale is now looking forward to the PIA event itself at the London Hilton on September 28th.’

For some years now Dugdale has been successfully introducing colour innovation into the international vinyl record industry. In this case Dugdale’s expertise was in the service of UNICEF. The charity reissued a select number of cult LP records in the famous UNICEF sky blue colours – and all for auction and charity.

Reissues of LPs from artists such as Bob Marley, Amy Winehouse, Jimi Hendrix, Nick Cave, and Kate Bush all helped to raise nearly one hundred thousand pounds for children worldwide.

Colour matching and pinpoint accuracy in plastics processing; compression moulding were all essential to the time-critical project

Dugdale’s appointment as materials supplier to the UNICEF project was based on a track record in vinyl for over 40 years and for its unparalleled and experiential “know-how” of the chemical and processing issues. All UNICEF project deadlines were met and all colours were successfully matched for the project and for the charity by Dugdale.

All the material, service and technological support was provided free of charge by Dugdale.

Dugdale’s MBO five years ago and its investments in vinyl R&D and production since have been integral to the success of a niche PVC-based business.

Dugdale’s newly built and appointed laboratory facilities at Sowerby Bridge, Yorkshire, are also further enhancing the company’s capabilities in mixing, compounding, raw materials evaluation and in accelerating the time-to-market for customer needs.
