Dugdale networks its med-tech opportunities

Dugdale's antimicrobial PVC compounding technology had a successful outing at this year's Med-Tech Innovation EXPO 2016.

The company was able to showcase its new materials to visiting manufacturers and plastics processors. Exhibiting at the show also helped Dugdale's understanding of the various specifying and procurement networks within UK med-tech and the role of supply-side organisations.

Andy Tombs, Dugdale stand manager said that 'as a first time exhibitor it was extremely interesting and informative for us to absorb all that MTI EXPO 2016 had to offer. The conference and seminar programmes were extremely well organised and useful; the Medilink UK Awards were also a true eye-opener in terms of the 'can do' spirit that lies at the heart of the sector.' The SBRI Healthcare organisation, British Standards Institute (BSI), the Make It In Plastics organisation and a number of other MTI EXPO exhibitors and visitors were among Dugdale's new contacts.

MTI EXPO was also useful to Dugdale in terms of the technical and scientific sharing of information and perspectives on medical materials. A show visit, for example, from the polymer engineering team at Bradford University led to a Dugdale team visiting the Bradford materials laboratories.

Stuart Hope of Dugdale said that 'as a relative newcomer to the med-tech industry, MTI EXPO presented an ideal opportunity to access the industry over two days. Some of the ideas and contacts generated there will play a useful part in the upcoming design of our new laboratories and mini-compounding line.'

Typical medical applications for Dugdale transparent flexible grades of PVC include breathing tubes and body fluid removal in the medical sector.

Dugdale rigid materials find useage in decorative or protective wall and floor coverings in leisure centres, hospitals, clinics, surgeries, school and nursery environments, day centres and in electrical ducting and fittings, water services products and handrails.

Dugdale believes its extensive range of material grades will enable manufacturers to increase market penetration and add value across the medical and healthcare spectrum.
